Pietersite also called the “Eagle’s Eye”, was named in honour of Sid Pieters who discovered it in 1962 in Namibia. It is a variety of chalcedony with embedded fibers of amphibole minerals in varying degrees of alteration.

Pietersite is a stone of cleansing that helps to restore the order and calmness amid the worst storms of life and brings about a balance to one’s spiritual aura.

Pietersite started as the mineral crocidolite with quartz gradually replacing the fibers of crocidolite. Namibia is the only place in the world where pietersite is currently found. The hardness of this crystal is 6.5 – 7 Mohs and its similarity with quartz make it very durable and resilient. Pietersite colours comprise red, blue, gold, rusty red and brown with blue being the rarest to find.

Pietersite is also called as the “Tempest Stone” because of the swirling colours in this crystal sometimes look like a storm. This stone is said to “hold the keys to the kingdom of heaven”.
