How Reliable Are the Healing Powers of Crystals?

This is a question asked by everyone who has ever been suggested to opt for the famous alternative healing method; and rightfully so. It seems kind of redundant, that so many serious issues can be aided by keeping a bunch of shiny stones around you.
It is claimed that this method involves surrounding yourself in the aura of positive energy fuelled by these crystals, which act as a gateway for negative, disease-causing energies to flow out.
As trivial as it may seem, this method has seen an upsurge in recent times and is considered therapeutic by many who have tried it. On the other hand, the educated opinion of medical professionals and scientists have termed it a ‘pseudo-science’, and for good reason. There has been no refutable scientific evidence that says for sure that crystal healing actually ‘heals’ anything.
The belief that crystals have healing properties is ancient and has been carried forward generations. Modern philosophies include the Chinese life-energy concepts of chi (or qi) and Hindu/Buddhist concepts of chakras, and how the crystals can connect the life-energy to the metaphysical, supernatural elements for healing.
The variety of colors and designs the crystals are present in the world, allow healers to assign different stones for different purposes and in turn, establish different values for them. Crystals are also used to treat people from mental disorders by “sucking in” the negative energies when worn as jewelry or kept under a pillow.
The people in the profession of Crystal healing are qualified in courses of ‘natural medicine’ found on the internet, provided by universities, which are not affiliated to any serious central organizations. This type of alternative treatment therapy can fall under the same category as massage and bodywork therapy in a lot of places, and not fall under any legitimate category at all in most.
On the flip side, however, many patients have experienced positive effects from crystal healing after being convinced of their magical prowess, allowing the alternative healing method to act as a placebo.
Unlike “positive vibes”, the power of positive, stress-free thought process promotes the release of chemicals like serotonin amongst others which help in the healing process. Crystal healing, for the right kind of patient, susceptible to believe in the superficial, can make a difference; at the very least psychologically.
