How To Make Orgonites: Materials Needed

How to make Orgonite-

Orgonite is basically made up of three ingredients

• Mix of 50% resin, & 50% metal shaving. (any metal can be used)
• You may add a small bit of quartz crystal in the mix

You can cure it in any mould of your choice as there is no particular shape or size that can be called as right for orgonite.

Materials needed

1. Metal Shavings- You will need metal shavings, but they need not be too fine or too large pieces either. All the metals will do the same job: steel, iron, aluminum, copper, silver, gold etc. The most widely used metal is aluminum, as it is the cheapest and easy to find. All you have to do is to approach a local machinery or engineering shop and ask them for some metal shaving. An important thing to need with respect to metal shaving is that the shape of metal can have a subtle influence on the energy of orgonite. The orgonite will be functional in any case if you follow the basic rules, no matter what the subtleties are.
2. Polyester or epoxy resin- Polyester resin is most commonly used in orgonite. Since it is less expensive and also because it is known to shrink when it is cured. The shrinking of resin puts a constant pressure on the quartz crystal, creating piezoelectric effect. This makes the orgonite more effective. You can make use of water clear casting resin or regular resin.
3. Quartz Crystal- Quartz is the most abundant mineral on earth and can be found in many places like nature, rock crystal, river quartz etc. Alternatively quartz crystals can be found conveniently at any gem or mineral shop. A funky, ugly crystal will also do the job perfectly for orgonite.

 

Apart from the above materials, some of the other things required to make orgonite are-

Molds: The shape of the mold depends on the type of orgonite device you wish to make. However, any mold that can withstand boiling temperature can be used. Avoid plastic molds. Instead go for metal molds as they are best for such purposes.

Safety equipment: Organic resins are known to emit toxin fumes during the curing process. Hence, it would be best to work in a well ventilated area like a back yard. Also make use of protective gloves and put on some old clothing (that you wouldn’t mind getting soiled).

Other: Bucket (for mixing), old rags or paper towels, wooden stirring stick, large flat surface for orgonite to cure.
